Diane Harkey's sad legacy in Dana Point

LETTER: Character Counts

I have been very patient lately as to not getting involved with: "He says/She says" talk about Mayor Diane Harkey.  I have read recent letters printed in The Dana Point Newspaper coming from Harkey supporters.  Their attempts try to belittle decent residents whom wish to merely have the people of Dana Point voice their opinions with the right to petition if indeed the public officers are unethical.  In none of the recent past letters did they write attacking myself or my husband.

They focus on "The Doheny House" debacle and try to paint a picture that it is a few people  out to get Harkey.  Well....The truth is that "The Doheny House" is an important issue.  But so is : Mayor Diane Harkey coming into our home and attempt to divide us from our attorney.  They can`t attack this because Mayor Harkey did it and admitted it in public council.  My point is that there are more reasons than just The Doheny House issue showing Harkey`s unethical behavior.

CHARACTER COUNTS and lets at least let the people decide.  Power  and money should not be the underlying force to public office.  CHARACTER COUNTS and ETHICS MATTER.

"Despite public denials from her own Assembly staff, just a few months ago, Diane Harkey disclosed under penalty of perjury an interest of up to $1,000,000 in "Point Center Financial," a company being sued by investors for fraud and under investigation for operating "Ponzi scheme," bilking investors, according to the Los Angeles Times and KNBC News. Harkey's recent mandatory financial disclosures as an elected official now prove her connection to the troubled company and may become evidence in the fraud litigation."

Diane Harkey's sad legacy in Dana Point-

  • a failed Town Center project;
  • more government spending;
  • more regulations;
  • more city union employees;
  • fewer businesses.
