Diane Harkey blames Lara Anderson for “stirring things up”

Audio tape released of Harkey saying Anderson and Dana Point Resident Pam Tappan are “setting her up”

Ethics Matter - Recall Diane Harkey has released an audio tape of Diane Harkey complaining to Dana Point residents Tony and Caroline Cooke that her city council colleague Lara Anderson, and Capistrano Beach resident Pam Tappan, are "stirring things up" regarding her relationship with convicted felon Paul Douglas.

Douglas hosted a fundraiser for Harkey at the historic Doheny House in Capistrano Beach while his plans to dismantle the house were before Harkey and the City. Harkey is supportive of his efforts to subdivide the important property.

In the tape, Harkey claims Anderson and Tappen are "stirring things up" against her. She states that Tappan "hates" Douglas, the convicted felon. Harkey suggests the reason Tappen is criticizing Harkey is her hatred for Douglas rather than Harkey’s conflict of interest concerning the destruction of the Doheny House.

Harkey's near-paranoid audio tape can be accessed online at http://www.dianeharkeyrecall.com.

"Despite public denials from her own Assembly staff, just a few months ago, Diane Harkey disclosed under penalty of perjury an interest of up to $1,000,000 in "Point Center Financial," a company being sued by investors for fraud and under investigation for operating "Ponzi scheme," bilking investors, according to the Los Angeles Times and KNBC News. Harkey's recent mandatory financial disclosures as an elected official now prove her connection to the troubled company and may become evidence in the fraud litigation."

Diane Harkey's sad legacy in Dana Point-

  • a failed Town Center project;
  • more government spending;
  • more regulations;
  • more city union employees;
  • fewer businesses.
