At the Council Meeting on September 4, Diane Harkey delivered a rant against the recall proponents. Looking and listening to her comments in full, one can easily allege the implications were meant to be: “Succeed in getting the recall on the ballot and pay the legal consequences.”
How else could anyone interpret Harkey's remarks? And who would vote for anyone who might later turn around and sue them?
Paranoid of Colleagues
Diane Harkey believes that her council colleagues are "out to get her". The reality is that citizens are outraged by her ethical lapses and corruptness (see Why Recall Diane Harkey). We have posted audio of a telephone message that shows this paranoia of a council colleague, and even a constituent.
You can listen to the tape below.
Harkey Justifies Position Based on Wealth
Harkey is never afraid to flaunt her wealth in order to justify her position on the council.
"My only point was that I am independently wealthy and do not need the council for influence peddling or to help out friends."

"I also did not buy my way in to the council - I merely fought fire with fire as I could afford to do so. I also got Lara (Anderson) elected, as you well know that has been my curse..."

"In case you didn't know, I'm very wealthy..."

"Despite public denials from her own Assembly staff, just a few months ago,
Diane Harkey disclosed under penalty of perjury an interest of up to $1,000,000
in "Point Center Financial," a company being sued by investors for fraud
and under investigation for operating "Ponzi scheme," bilking investors,
according to the Los Angeles Times and KNBC News. Harkey's
recent mandatory financial disclosures as an elected official now prove her connection
to the troubled company and may become evidence in the fraud litigation."
